There is a REQUIRED Benton County Written Office Skills Test that needs to have been previously taken and passed with a score of 70% or higher or WILL need to be taken and passed with a score of 70% or higher as part of the screening process, in order to be considered an eligible applicant for this open position.
There will be more information and directions sent out via e-mail, regarding submitting previous passing Office Skills Test scores and testing date and times that will be made available here at Benton County for those applicants that have NOT yet taken and passed the Office Skills Test, once the job posting has closed.

Position Summary Performs a variety of professional responsibilities supporting the directives of the Benton County Sheriff's Office in working with federal, state, and county departments/ employees and members of the public.
This position works with sensitive data and confidentiality is required.

Maintains files and records, including e-filing.

Responds to requests for reports.

Compiles, transcribes, reads, and enters data into and from the record keeping system.

Prepares case files for deputies, detectives, attorneys, court, and the state.

Prepares in-custody files.
A.
5.
Reviews and corrects suspense records and hot file validation reports.
A.
6.
Processes expungements and seals records.
A.
7.
Purges records in accordance with records retention schedule.
A.
8.
Creates, compiles, and maintains law enforcement training records.
B.
Transcribes reports, interviews, and statements.
C.
Acts as Sheriff's designee for the release of information and records in compliance with Minnesota State Statute data practices laws, policies, and procedures.
D.
Provides technical information to deputies and detectives such as criminal histories, driving records and license checks.
E.
Provides customer service in-person, by phone, mail, fax, or email responding to requests for information and records or referring to appropriate source.
F.
Processes permits to purchase/carry guns.
G.
Classifies crimes and enters into the proper system.
H.
Prepares and maintains statistical data and reports.
I.
Accepts Predatory Offender information, investigates compliance, enters into records management system and forwards to the State.
J.
Accepts and processes warrants, warrant cancellations, and bail monies.
K.
Accepts, processes, and documents a variety of fees and payments.
L.
Processes in-coming and out-going correspondence and deliveries.
M.
Processes month-end Civil Processing reporting.
M.

Balancing fee and bail checkbooks/bank accounts.
M.
2.
Balancing jail, civil process, gun permit and documents monies.
M.
3.
Disperse monies to County Auditor-Treasurer.
N.
Processes Civil Process documents as necessary.
Additional Functions A.
Attends trainings as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Minimum Qualifications - Training and Experience Required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications A.
High School Degree or equivalent; and B.
Two years relevant work experience; OR C.
Equivalent combination of education/training/experience.
Preferred Qualifications A.
Post-high school education in clerical/administrative support.
Conditions of Employment A.
Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive in the state of Minnesota.

Must successfully complete a background check.
This includes psychological, drug, and alcohol.
C.
Must complete and pass pre-employment testing.
D.
Obtain and maintain certifications and licensures.
E.
The ability to travel within your daily work assignment.
F.
Ability to travel within Minnesota, including overnight stays.

Ability to work extended, evening and weekend hours as necessary.

Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.

Once the work reason to access the data is reasonably finished the not public data must be properly stored according to county policies and the Minnesota Statutes.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
